The Thing 1982:Review
Recently I've been seeing throwback movies on Thursday nights. It's especially fun to see 1980's horror movies, last week we saw cult classic: 'American Werewolf in London,' made in 1981. It was just as fun seeing it on the big screen as I anticipated. And 'The Thing' did not disappoint either with it's stellar art displays and morbid aliens in Antarctica. This was John Carpenter's eighth time directing a full-length feature film, but first time teaming up with Universal production.
Carpenter used the same cinematography Dean Cundey that he used in his other motion pictures. His movies usually do have excellent cinematography. And The Thing and it's frosty mountain landscapes made for an exciting science-fiction. It came out in June 1982, this winter wonderland made its debut in summer. However, I celebrated first time watching it in October of 2016. It's been a hot October here in Southern California and this chilly thriller is just what the doctor ordered.
